Mr. Alex Mbikayi practices as an Attorney registered at the Mbuji-Mayi Bar in the Democratic Republic of Congo since 2005 and as a Legal Consultant in Foreign Law in the Republic of South Africa since 2010. He joined the law firm Emery Mukendi Wafwana & Associates as Associate in 2010.

Linking his knowledge of the Romano-Germanic legal system and Anglo-Saxon legal systems to his expertise of more than 10 years, Mr. Alex Mbikayi is active in the trade, industry and investment and infrastructure sectors. He advises and assists local and international clients on issues related to general commercial law, securities law, corporate law, investment law, telecommunication law, mining and hydrocarbons law, land and real estate law, banking law and international arbitration.

With years of experience in international projects, including investment in Africa, Mr. Alex Mbikayi advises and assists numerous companies and financial institutions for their investments in Africa.

He is also involved in major projects of market liberalization, privatization, restructuring, public-private partnerships (PPP), institutional reforms for governments and international donors.

Mr. Alex Mbikayi coordinates research activities and dissemination of legal information for English-speaking countries within JuriAfrique, African Law Portal, whose objective is to contribute, through law, to the economic and social development of Africa through research, analysis, publications and dissemination of legal information of the African continent.

Mr. Alex Mbikayi holds a Bachelor of law degree (honor’s degree) in Private and Procedural Law from the University of Lubumbashi (since 2004) and a Master’s degree in Banking Law from the University of South Africa (UNISA).

He is a member of the Association of Arbitrators (Southern Africa).

He speaks English, French, Swahili, Lingala and Tshiluba.
